Dubai Mallathon at DXB

I recently found myself at DXB—but not to catch a flight! Instead, I joined Dubai Mallathon for a one kilometre walk through one of the most unexpected walking tracks in the city, Terminal 3.

What made the event even more special was taking part alongside friends and colleagues from across the airport community, including flydubai, Emirates and Dubai Duty Free. There’s something special about bringing people from across the aviation industry together for a good cause!

Dubai Mallathon is an annual, city-wide summer fitness initiative led by the Dubai Sports Council. Running from June 15 to September 15, it transforms major shopping malls (and now, airports too) across Dubai into cool, indoor morning fitness hubs providing safe walking and running tracks to beat the summer heat. Built around the idea that healthier cities are created when movement becomes part of everyday life, there was no better place to host Dubai Mallathon than DXB, who transformed the place that millions of people pass through every year into an unexpected space for movement, community, and wellbeing.

The morning was filled with energy, enthusiasm and plenty of positive vibes as we made our way through the terminal. Walking through an airport is something I’ve done countless times—but walking through one as part of a fitness event, combining aviation, exercise and community in one place felt completely different. After all, there’s no better backdrop for an aviation enthusiast than an airport!

Events like Dubai Mallathon are a great reminder that wellbeing doesn’t necessarily have to mean heading to a gym or following a strict fitness routine. Sometimes, it’s simply about finding opportunities to move, connect with others and make healthy choices part of our everyday lives!
