You don’t need to be an #avgeek to understand the devastating effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the aviation and travel industries. Many commercial airlines have gone bust since air travel came to a near standstill; 43 in 2020, 46 in 2019, and 56 throughout 2018 (according to CNBC News).
Somehow, everything I do always relates back to aviation. I guess that’s what happens when you truly have a passion for it! I recently had the pleasure of taking on a Cabin Crew role for an Expo 2020 Dubai TV commercial. It felt good to be back in uniform again!
It’s almost time for Dubai, United Arab Emirates to open its doors for Expo 2020 Dubai! The 182-day event (taking place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022), will welcome visitors from every corner of the globe to join the making of a new world, as it brings together the planet in one place to reimagine tomorrow.
On June 18th of last year, I walked into a “business update” meeting that resulted in my redundancy at Emirates. When I first heard this news I was devastated. I felt as though I had given so much of myself to the airline, and that my entire world was crashing down. I didn’t get my last flight… I wasn’t leaving on my own terms…I didn’t have a backup plan…! Yet still, I tried to hold onto hope that in a year’s time things would get better.
This year’s hybrid event brought together tourism destinations from around the world to showcase their brand and exhibit alongside the biggest names in accommodation and hospitality, renowned tourism attractions, innovative travel technology companies, and key airline routes, around the theme “A New Dawn for Travel and Tourism”.
Kelsey Johnson will represent Canada at Miss Charm 2021, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on October 11, 2021. Her crowning comes after having placed in the top 10 at Miss Universe Canada in October of last year.
