This week, I got to cross another country off of my bucket list! I had the opportunity to operate a flight to Glasgow, Scotland. I’ve wanted to visit Scotland for the longest time, mainly because it’s home to a few of my good friends. I was absolutely thrilled to see it on my roster this month, and boy- it did not disappoint!
Our flight arrived in the afternoon, which gave the crew a whole day to as we pleased. Some of us had planned to go shopping, while others wanted to hop on the train to Edinburgh. Me? I decided to meet up with an old friend from Dubai who is currently living in the city. We hadn’t seen each other in almost a year, and I have to say I couldn’t have picked a better tour guide. (Even though we spent more time in the car getting lost than we did actually touring the city). 🙂
Our first stop was Luss; a popular tourist area situated on the western shore of Loch Lomond. This settlement is composed of stone houses, many of which have stood there since medieval times.
From there, we walked along the shoreline and snapped a couple pictures before heading to Sterling Castle. I’ve never seen the movie Braveheart, but a lot of people venture to this part of Scotland to see this castle because it was featured in this movie. Unfortunately it was closed to the public when we arrived, but it’s an excuse for me to come back another time!
Afterwards, we decided to grab some food at a nearby Mexican restaurant called Smiling Jacks. It was recommended by a friend of a friend, and I could never turn down tacos! The Mexican hats they placed on the table were the icing on the cake. *Takes endless amounts of selfies*
After dinner I went back to the hotel to catch some rest. The flight was only 7 hours long, but I was feeling the jet lag this time around!
Overall, I had a great time and am hoping to return to visit Edinburgh!
If you go: A drive through the countryside is a must! I really miss being around nature and Scotland has plenty of greenery to soothe the soul.
Next stop: Toronto, Canada
