Layover Life: New York, U.S.A

Looking around Times Square

Let’s hear it for New York, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of! This is my fifth time in the city, and I never get bored of it. There is always so much to do here!

Shopping is one of the many reasons that I (along with many other Cabin Crew) love visiting NYC. Everything tends to be more affordable in the United States, so I always pick up my essentials when I visit. This usually includes a trip to Sephora, H&M and the nearest department store.

This time around, I decided to run my errands as soon as I arrived to the hotel. We landed later in the afternoon, so I wanted to get everything out of the way as soon as I could. I was joined by another crew member, and we decided to have dinner together at Brooklyn Diner in Times Square. Nothing tastes better than a big greasy hot dog and french fries, right?!

The next day, we decided to head out to the Brooklyn Bridge. I’ve seen it a couple times, but never had the opportunity to actually walk along it. It was really busy, but I’m glad I did it. The weather was perfect, and it made for some welcomed exercise and some pretty cool Instagram photos.

Just when I thought my day was coming to and end, I had to go back to Times Square before operating the flight back to DXB in the evening. As luck would have it, I forgot to pick up a few items at the department store. Regardless, it gave me an excuse to stop and eat in Times Square again. This time, we went to the HardRock Café– one of my favourite restaurants. This is the fourth time I’ve eaten at this location, and you guessed it, I went big and grabbed a pulled pork sandwich!

Times Square at night

If you go: The Brooklyn Bridge is a great place to spend a couple hours of your time. There are street vendors, buskers and great photo opportunities (the cityscape is beautiful).

Next stop: The next few weeks I’ll be travelling around Southern Ontario (Canada) visiting friends and family. I’m on leave and am really looking forward to sharing pictures of my home country with you!

Sounds like you had a great time, you’re so lucky to have been 5 times 🙂 Have you ever went to see a show on Broadway?
