Visiting Dhaka, Bangladesh always puts a smile on my face! Now one of my most flown routes, I’m trying to get there as much as I can to visit my friends at the Maria Cristina Foundation (MCF).
The MCF Foundation was founded by former Emirates Cabin Crew, Maria Conceicao, in 2005 and works to break the cycle of poverty through education. I’ve written about this amazing organization before and made a short video showcasing my first visit there last year.
This time around, I was joined by two of my colleagues: Bonnie and Camila, as well as two students from the organization: Julhas and Alamin. We visited some of the children funded by MCF at a local school in the community, talking to them about their goals and aspirations as well as what it’s like to be Cabin Crew and travel the world.
Many of these children want to become pilots and doctors, so it was a privilege to be able to sit and chat with them about their future careers.
Following our visit with them, we went to the MCF guest house to drop off some donations and to show my colleagues around the area. The heavy rains prevented us from doing much more, but the time we spent together was worth braving the storm for.
I was scheduled to visit again this month, but an unexpected, prolonged stay in Narita, Japan took this opportunity away from me. I’m hoping to get back there again as soon as possible!
