Looking for a way to beat that Dubai heat? My friend Chandee and I might just have the solution! We recently visited the Fairmont Ajman; a five star beachfront hotel and resort, for a much needed staycation! We were pleasantly surprised by its impeccable hospitality and elegance, as well as its exceptional cultural, leisure and dining experiences.
Located just 30 minutes away from the hub of Dubai, our two day stay was just what we needed to rest, rejuvenate and relax.
Our Signature Terrace Room, complete with ample space and 28 square meter private balcony terrace, provided us with stunning views of both the Arabian Gulf and pristine Ajman beachfront. It allowed us to enjoy all the comforts of home along with the world class service of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
Of course, the plan for our staycation was to get some much need shut-eye, but we couldn’t resist taking in as many dining experiences as we could. There are eight different restaurant and lounges guests can choose from at Fairmont Ajman, and Gioia was our first pick. This classic Italian eatery features an authentic menu, with everything from traditional antipasti, to oven-cooked pizza and delicious dolci! Its modern day twist and interactive open kitchen adds to the mood, and was by far one of our favourite places to eat.
Between meals, we hung out at our private cabana next to the infinity pool and swim up bar. Salt & Sea offered up some light refreshments and snacks, enabling us to unwind while taking in the scenery of the private pristine beach line.
Other activities and services at the resort include: a spa and fully-equipped fitness centre, water sports, beach volleyball, floating outdoor waterpark and tennis court. There are also several excursions to choose from too, BUT the jet lag was real. Lying under the shady palm trees and umbrellas for the day had Chandee and I sold.
As comfortable as we were keeping cool by the pool, we decided to visit Fairmont Ajman’s newest hangout for sports fans in the evening: The Cave Sports Bar & Kitchen. This high energy dining experience was met with fun cocktails, tasty bar eats and a happening crowd; something quite unique to the Ajman area. The restaurant also broadcasts live matches and sporting action, and is perfect for those looking for something different in the area with a “pub-like” feel. The loud music and low-key lighting add to its upbeat atmosphere too and really give “the cave” its name.
Kiyi was another one of our favourites places to eat. This signature restaurant offers an interactive family style dining experience in a traditional Turkish setting. We had the privilege of enjoying some shisha and live entertainment from the comforts of our own divan, as well as trying some of the country’s rich culinary heritage served through a selection of traditional Turkish and Middle-Eastern desserts: baklava and kunefe.
As you can imagine, Chandee and I were quite full from all of this taste testing, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying a full buffet breakfast the next morning courtesy of Spectrum. The star of the Fairmont Ajman’s culinary line-up, it boasts a multi-faceted open kitchen, with cuisines from all over the world including: European, Middle Eastern, Asian, Indian, and Japanese. The variety is such that even the pickiest of eaters can find something here to satisfy their taste buds.
Although our stay was short, it was the perfect way to spend a few days off between flights. Whether you’re foodies like us, avid adventurers or are simply looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, I can highly recommend visiting the Fairmont Ajman.
Note: Cabin Crew are able to enjoy reduced rates at this location with Emirates Platinum Card (50% off beach access and all food and beverage) and with Face Card (40% on food and beverage, as well as a day pass to the resort).
