Last week, I had the pleasure of participating in a Blogger and Influencer Panel at Simply Dubai. This fashion, beauty and entrepreneurial conference allows attendees to learn from one another, network with industry professionals and inspire creativity.
Keynote speakers at this year’s event included: celebrity makeup artist Joyce Bonelli, image architect Law Roach, and founder of Elcie Cosmetics Lilit Caradanian. Other talent included celebrity hairstylist Chris Dylan, makeup artist Nina Ubhi, and Marc Jacobs beauty ambassador Rhea Jacobs, among many more.
It was an honour to be included in this all star lineup and I’m thankful to have been given the opportunity to share my story with so many talented individuals.
A lot of the questions I was asked pertained to time management and organization. My flight schedule essentially dictates my commitments for the month ahead and everything outside of my “fly life” is done on my days off. Although it can be difficult to stay motivated (having to balance multiple commitments along with jet lag), it is people like you that help to keep me going, even when I’m feeling overwhelmed.
Other inspiring take-away notes from the day included Law Roach’s advice about being your authentic self. With social media and celebrities taking centre stage in today’s day and age, many young children are looking at others and comparing themselves to one another. It is important to recognize this and learn to be confident in who we are.
Another highlight was entrepreneur, Sara Al Madani’s story about success and failure. When we don’t attain certain goals that we set for ourselves, we need to learn from these experiences and consider them as stepping stones in our future plans to do better. This is why she is one of my personal role models.
I truly believe that we can all learn from one another, and I’m happy to have walked away from this experience feeling inspired having met several incredible designers, beauty experts, bloggers, photographers, influencers and entrepreneurs. I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for all of them!
Following Simply Dubai, I attended Harper’s Baazar Arabia’s “World of Fashion 2018” event in the Mall of Emirates, where I got to meet Victoria Secret model Alessandra Ambrossio. I have to shout-out and thank the lovely Rhea Jacobs for the invite! It was nice to get to know the supermodel a bit more, learning about her life on and off the runway.
