The Chedi Al Bait

Home away from home. That’s the perfect way to describe this luxurious Arabian splendour. Listed by Travel + Leisure as one of the most remarkable new hotels in the world, I had to discover this incredible five star resort for myself.

Located in the heart of Sharjah, about 25 kilometres from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah, UAE lies in the midst of an exciting cultural renaissance. It is situated amongst a historical preservation project, across from the docks of Corniche street that line the Arabian Gulf.

During my stay, my guest and I were treated to an Al Bait Heritage Suite. This 53 square meter paradise features an extra-large double bed, seating area, flat screen tv, sofa, gorgeous ensuite bathroom, as well as a beautiful inner courtyard view. Inspired by Islamic heritage and contemporary style, the space itself brings together the best of both these worlds, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for those seeking a relaxing retreat.

We had the pleasure of enjoying some sweet treats at The Café, one of three restaurants at the resort, shortly after checking in. We were presented with The Café trio for two, and a glass each of nitro cured red and white sangria. Non-alcoholic, of course! The presentation of both the food and beverages were amazing; served to us using nitrogen, for an instagram worthy smokey effect!

After satisfying our taste buds, we toured the premises. The Souk, located behind the The Chedi Al Bait, offers guests a glimpse into Sharjah’s cultural past. As does The Majlis Al Midfa landmark, The Museum, The Library, Cigar Lounge and The Jewellery, which are all only steps away from the guest accommodations.

The Museum was created to honour the Al Midfa family, who once lived in what is now the resort. The family’s historic manors were converted into the 53 units that make The Chedi Al Bait what it is today.

We also visited the spa area; a “sanctuary in the truest sense“. It was, by far, the hidden gem of the resort. Divided into separate men’s and ladies’ facilities, guests can experience relaxation lounges, hammam as well as steam and sauna here. Ladies also have access to hot and cold plunge pools.

Although we did not use these services, I was treated to a warm, rejuvenating milk bath in our suite; complete with rose petals and a vintage record player that emitted soft, relaxing jazz music.

Other amenities available to guests at The Chedi Al Bait include the gym and recreational facilities. There is a 15-metre outdoor swimming pool, manned by several attendants to assist guests with any food and beverage requests they may have. The service we received here was impeccable, but unfortunately the cool weather cut our visit to this part of the resort short.

Dinner was served to us at The Restaurant, where we indulged in some local gourmet favourites. Humous, falafel, kibbeh and fattoush were just some of the dishes we savoured, as well as plates of succulent lamb and chicken.

Despite going to bed with full bellies, my guest woke up in the middle of the night in search of snacks! Thankfully, the The Chedi Al Bait staff graciously came to the rescue, presenting us with an array of in room dining options at two in the morning! A true example of the warm hospitality we received throughout our time here.

Although our stay was short and sweet, it was the perfect escape from the desert sands and hustle and bustle of Dubai city life. The service was outstanding, the facilities were impeccable, and the cuisine was delicious. I highly recommend that you see it for yourself, and take advantage of their special offers.
