This weekend, Airshow London held Canada’s first socially responsible and physically distant air show! Dubbed “Sky Drive”, the event featured various aerial displays from seven American military demonstration teams:
- United States Air Force Thunderbirds
- United States Air Force (USAF) F-22 Raptor Demo Team
- USAF F-16 Viper Demo Team
- U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team
- USAF A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team
- USAF C-17 West Coast Demo Team
- RCAF CF-18 Hornets
- USAF KC-135 Stratotanker
- USAF KC-10 Extender
- USAF B-52 Stratofortress
- USAF E-3 Sentry (AWACS)
Due to COVID-19, no static displays were available. In fact, no planes landed in Canada! Following the shows completion on the 12th, the teams returned to the US (Michigan), and came back for the second showing the following day.
While I wasn’t able to capture any photos of the displays myself, I did take a few videos that are visible on my Instagram highlight reel. I will be sharing more videos from the event on my social channels over the next few weeks, but until then, more coverage can be found here, and here!
Overall, it was an amazing experience! I have to thank the Airshow London team, their volunteers, and everyone else who made the event a success.
